Logo, Motto and Brand Style Design Competition
The Export Promotion Council (EPC) currently in the process of finalizing its Strategic plan for the period 2012-2017.

The Strategic Plan 2012-2017 aims at infusing fresh dynamism into Kenya’s export development by providing critical input, as well as integration of the interrelated activities that will increase Kenya’s regional and global market share. The brand promise “Anchoring Kenya as an export driven economy” captures the critical role that the export sector ought to play if it were to catalyze the realization of the Kenya Vision 2030. Towards the definition of our image and brand, the Export Promotion Council wishes to develop a logo motto and brand style, through a competition open to the general public. Interested persons are invited to participate in the competition by designing a logo motto and brand style which best interprets the Export Promotion Council.

The competition will be open from 24th August to 21st September 2012.

The best three entries will be rewarded in Kenya shillings, as follows,

  • Best Entry            100,000.00
  • 1st Runner up         75,000.00     
  • 2nd Runner up        50,000.00

THE TERMS AND CONDITIONS TO APPLY FOR THE COMPETITION:

1.Introduction

The Export Promotion Council (EPC) was established on 19th August, 1992 through a Gazette Notice No. 4342 with the mandate of promoting exports through assistance to producers of exportable goods and services in overcoming bottlenecks, to enable them achieve a higher level of export performance. This was a platform through which Kenya would increase her foreign exchange earnings resulting in enhanced economic growth.

EPC’s primary objective is to increase the foreign exchange earnings of Kenya through the introduction of legislation and associated measures in the various exchange earning sectors.

The primary function of the Council is to address bottlenecks facing exporters and producers of export goods and services towards increasing the performance level of the export sector.

The need to establish The Export Promotion Council was informed by a number of factors; First and foremost, the decision by Government vide Sessional Paper No. 1 of 1986 on Economic Management for Renewed Growth, to transform the country from an inward looking economy under the Import Substitution strategy to an outward looking export oriented economy. The second factor was informed by recommendation by the Study on the “Master Plan for Trade Promotion in The Republic of Kenya” by Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) in October 1991.

2.Objectives

The objective of this assignment is to improve the communications of Export Promotion Council.

3.Scope of the Competition

• Design a logo that best describe Export Promotion Council
• Come up with a motto to support the designed logo
• Prepare style sheets and templates on how the logo will be used on lettersheads, newsletter, pamphlets / information sheets, manuals, presentation and reports with guidelines for their application.

The documents shall be enclosed in a plain sealed envelope, marked “COMPETITION FOR LOGO, MOTTO AND BRAND STYLE DESIGN FOR EPC -DO NOT OPEN BEFORE OPENING DAY” and be posted to:

Or deposited in the Tender box situated on 16th floor, Anniversary Towers, so as to be received on or before 21st September, 2012 at 12.00 noon.

The opening of the competition documents will be held on 21st September 2012 at 2.30 pm.
