“An Excellent Opportunity For SMEs Exporters To Create Business Linkages”

The Export Promotion Council (EPC) and the Kenya Institute of Business Training (KIBT) in collaboration with Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) is organizing a Trade Mission to India from 2nd to 16th September 2012

The objective of the mission is to explore business opportunities in India; learn and enhance business management skills from India’s best practices and also study the Indian business environment and how the Kenyan entrepreneurs can enter into business partnership with their counterparts in India. A similar mission was successfully undertaken last year which resulted in various tangible business development including establishment of business partnership with Indian companies, understanding of the business practices that make India companies competitive, and identification of modern technology to improve production.

Target Participants:
Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs) who have participated in the JICA/EPC or JICA/KIBT Trade Training Programme (Phase I/ II) and large scale companies who would be interested in partnering with SMEs in their line of business. Three (3) SMEs and two (2) large scale companies will be selected.

Anticipated Benefits:

  • Learning the best practices from India’s SMEs to enhance competitiveness
  • Establishment of business linkage between Kenyan entrepreneurs and India’s small and medium-sized enterprises, and large enterprises which include multinational companies
  • Understanding of the Indian strategy for industrial development/export promotion

Participation Requirements:
JICA will cover 60% of the total cost of travel and accommodation for the three SMEs and 30% of the same cost for the two large scale entrepreneurs (LSEs). The estimated cost to be met by entrepreneurs at current exchange rates is Kshs 110,000 and Kshs 190,000 for the SMEs and LSEs respectively. Kindly note the amount may change depending on the variation of the programme and the exchange rate. Only companies that belong to the target participants will be considered.

Participants will be selected using a criteria developed and agreed upon by a Selection Committee comprising representatives from EPC, KIBT and JICA, mainly based on the information provided in the application form and the business proposal for the mission.
