Request for Proposals for Provision of Consultancy Services on Product Design and Development
The Export Promotion Council (EPC) is a state corporation whose Mission is to develop and promote Kenya's exports of goods and services and harmonise export related activities. EPC has partnered with the Women Enterprise Fund (WEF) to enhance Kenyan women access to international markets.

The Council seeks to engage the services of a competent consultant to assist women entrepreneurs from various parts of Kenya on Product Design and Development for their commercial crafts.
The objective of the assignment is to improve the designs and quality of products produced by these women entrepreneurs in order to meet international market requirements and trends resulting in market-led production.

Product Design and Development for commercial crafts produced by selected women entrepreneurs from various regions of Kenya. The project has three components that are expected to be undertaken before end of June 2012:

  • Two (2) day instructive training workshop on Product Design and Development
  • On-site company coaching on new product development
  • Mini exhibition in Nairobi to select winning products
  • The total elapsed period of the assignment shall not exceed three (3) months and requires one (1) key expert.

Professional Requirements
  • Proven track record of consultancy on product design and development for commercial crafts;
  • A reputable consultant or designer of long standing with good understanding of Product Design and Development for  commercial crafts ;
  • Must have an in-depth understanding of product design, development and supply life-cycle of commercial crafts;
  • Must have an in-depth understanding of international market trends and competition in the commercial crafts market;
  • Experience in marketing, design,  manufacture and test marketing of commercial crafts;
  • Good working knowledge in both English and Kiswahili will be an added advantage.

The Council invites eligible consultancy firms, individuals, consortiums, consultants or designers Incorporated/Registered in Kenya to submit proposals for the provision of these services.  The consulting firm will be selected in accordance with the procedures set out in the Public Procurement and Disposal Act 2005, Regulations 2006 and RFP documents.

Application Procedure and Submission of Proposals
Detailed set of the Request for Proposal (RFP) Document may be obtained from our offices at Anniversary towers 16th Floor University way upon payment of Kenya Shillings Two Thousand (KShs 2,000.00) only.

Interested consulting firms, individuals, consortiums, consultants or designers may obtain further clarifications and inspect the RFP documents from the Council’s Procurement office during working hours (8.15am- 5.00pm Mon-Fri)

Completed and properly bound proposal should be enclosed in plain sealed envelops clearly marked EPC/RFP/12/2011-12:  “CONSULTANCY FOR PRODUCT DESIGN AND DEVELOPMENT PROGRAMME UNDER THE WEF/EPC PARTNERSHIP PROPOSAL” are to be deposited at the “tender box” or received at the Council offices; 16th floor Anniversary Towers; latest on 7th March 2012 at 12.00 pm and should be addressed to the Chief Executive

The Proposals  will be opened thereafter at the Council’s  Board Room, Anniversary Towers 16th Floor in the presence of the tenderers/representative who wish to attend.
