A programme funded by the European Commission
An EC funded programme, implemented by the International Trade Centre (ITC), aiming at “Joining Forces to Empower the African Private Sector Network to strengthen the international competitiveness of SMEs” has been put in place with the ultimate objective of increasing participation of exporters from African countries in regional/international trade. The project will strengthen the capacities of African intermediary organizations such as the Kenya Bureau of Standards, Kenya to act as national focal points to assist exporting SMEs to become more competitive.
Component 1 of the project entitled “Maximizing Export Performance through Better Packaging Solutions” has the objective to improve the capacities of intermediary organizations and experts to offer better packaging and labelling solutions to SMEs. This will be done using the ITC advisory services in the area of Export Packaging by training export packaging trainers who will in turn train and advice SMEs in Kenya.

Following this the Trainers will hold a national workshop, under the guidance of International Consultants in August 2011 for 50 participants drawn from Small and Medium-sized Enterprises (SMEs). The workshop is aimed at building local expertise in the area of export packaging. This will help enterprises to meet more specific export requirements, thus facilitating market access and increasing market share.
The project invites Expressions of Interest (EOI) from Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs) that are already engaged in or have the potential of exporting products to regional and international markets to attend a capacity building Packaging Training Workshop which will  held  in Nairobi  on 15th and 16th August 2011,at the Red Court Hotel
