Kenya Shippers Council

The Kenya Shippers’ Council (KSC) is a private sector membership organization that acts as focal point in advocating for the interests of cargo owners in the region, on policy and operational issues in transport and logistics
The Kenya Shippers Council was established on November 2004 by leading business organizations including the Kenya Association of Manufacturers (KAM), Fresh Produce Exporters Association of Kenya (FPEAK), East Africa Tea Trade Association (EATTA), East Africa Cement Producers Association (EACPA), Kenya Coffee Traders Association, (KCTA), and the Petroleum Institute of East Africa (PIEA). This was out of the need to address three key areas that characterized Trade Facilitation in Kenya and the Region.

The services offered are; 

  • Provide a platform for cargo owners to articulate their concerns and demands to service providers and policy makers.
  • Provide timely interventions in operational issues that face shippers.
  • Advocate for enactment of appropriate legal and regulatory framework.
  • Promotion and dissemination of best practices in the transport sector.
  • Empower cargo owners through awareness workshop, seminars and trainings including firm level interventions.
  • Influence policy by conducting appropriate research and analysis on the transport and logistics sector.
  • Regular publishing of transport and logistics related information e.g. freight rates, dwell times, turnaround times etc.
  • Access to a highly interactive website with a depository of key information and opportunities to advertise at competitive rates.
  • Hold biennial networking forums for all players in the transport sector.
