ACCESS! FOR AFRICAN BUSINESSWOMEN IN INTERNATIONAL TRADE

GRAND EXPORT TRAINING OPPORTUNITIES FOR WOMEN ENTREPRENEURS:
GENERIC AND SECTOR SPECIFIC TRAINING WORKSHOPS & MENTORSHIP PROGRAMMES – JUN TO AUG 2011

The Export Promotion Council, in collaboration with the International Trade Centre (ITC) and relevant organizations that offer business support to women entrepreneurs, including FEWA and WEF, is organising export training workshops and mentorship programmes for women entrepreneurs from June to August 2011 under the Programme for Building African Capacity for Trade (PACT II).The programme is designed to enhance the competitiveness of women-owned enterprises and to promote concrete business opportunities in international markets.

Contents of Generic Training Workshop

 Designing Export Strategy - International Environment, Are you ready to Export, Global Value Chain, Business Strategy for Exports, Building an Export Business Plan, Market Research and Intellectual Property

  • Building Export Capabilities - Building Production Capabilities, Export Packaging, Export Quality Management, Communicating on your Products and Distributing Your Product
  • Managing Export Transactions - Raising Customer Interest, Communication, Information and Communication Technologies, Costing and Pricing,  Incoterms, International Transportation, Export Documentation and Export Financing and Payment
  • Managing Resources - Negotiation Skills, Contracting and Legal Aspects, Cash Flow Management and Making Resource Decisions

Target Participants
ACCESS! Programme targets women entrepreneurs who have already attained a fair level of management competence and are actual, emerging or potential exporters.

  • Mentorship programme: Demand driven expert advice and guidance to selected trainees in developing and implementing their export strategies

  • Concrete business opportunities in regional and international markets for a group of selected women entrepreneurs through Trade Fairs, Buyer-Sellers meetings or Trade Missions


Participation Details

Applicants are invited to complete a company profile form which can be obtained here <<Click Here to download>> or from our offices at Anniversary towers and our regional offices. Duly completed Profile Forms should be returned to the contacts on the Form on or before the deadline dates indicated above. Only successful and paid up applicants will be contacted and provided with details of training venues. Funds for non-successful applicants will be refunded. Applicants are required to pay a total of Kshs 5,000.00 (per participant) on application for the five days workshop and Kshs 2,000.00 (per participant) for the two days workshop. Payments should be made by cash or bankers cheque to Export Promotion Council. Course materials will be provided. Certificates will be awarded to participants who attend the training for all days and participate for a minimum of 80% of the time.
