Launch of Our Strategic Plan 2008-12

While launching the Council's Strategic Plan, Minister for Trade Hon. Chirau Ali Mwakwere said the plan will provide a firm foundation and reposition for the better service delivery and contribute to the attainment of the country’s Vision 2030 aspiration.

The Minister said that the role of export sector is to support the country’s social economic development agenda through creating jobs and wealth. He added that despite the global financial crisis which affected growth of the economy and exports, the country expects that GDP growth will pick up to a growth of 10%, the target of vision 2030.

The Trade Minister emphasized the need to implement the new plan with a view of diversification of products and markets in order to take advantages of international opportunities.

He pointed out that in order to maintain high levels of growth there is need to explore new economic sectors with greatest potential for value addition. He said the Ministry  is spearheading the process of implementing Private Sectors Development Strategy (PSDS) to provide a vehicle for harnessing public, private and donor resource for catalyzing growth and development of private sectors.
The Minister was launching the new strategic plan for EPC in a Nairobi. The launch was attended by the Chairman EPC Njeru Ndwiga, EPC C.E.O Matanda Wabuyele and JICA representative Mr. Shigeo Nakagawa among other dignitaries.
