52nd Zambia International Trade Fair Brief
The 52nd ZITF was a major success for the country, EPC and the enterprises exhibiting. This year’s event was organized by the Export Promotion Council in collaboration with the Ministry of Trade, Industry & Co-operatives, Kenya High Commission, Lusaka,
Kenya National Chamber of Commerce & Industry and Kenya Association of Manufacturers.

The Zambia International Trade Fair was officially opened on 3rd July 2016 by H.E. the President of the Republic of Mozambique, Mr. Filipe Nyusi accompanied by H.E. the President of Zambia, and Mr. Edgar Chagwa Lungu. During the occasion, Kenya was declared the “3rd Best Exhibit – International Category” and was issued with a certificate by the Guest of Honour. Following the official opening and the attractive design of the pavilion, the exhibitors managed to register high number of visitors and made good sells besides receiving good orders holding fruitful discussion with prospective agents and distributors that could lead to increased sells prospects in future. Some of the companies managed to enter into partnership and distributorship agreements and are in the process of finalising their contracts.

Prior to the official opening, the Minister for Commerce, Trade & Industry-Zambia, Mrs. Margaret Mwanakatwe visited the Kenyan Pavilion on 29th June, 2016 where the Minister commended Kenya for showcasing a wide range of products/services in line with this year’s theme.

The Kenya Pavilion that was set up in the Kenyan stand and had a total of 16 booths that comprised of Large, Medium and Small enterprises drawn from different product sectors.

By virtue of the reported spot sales and enquiries made vis a vis the large number of visitors received at the pavilion, it was clear that Kenyan products were not only being appreciated but also the demand for wider range of products was indicative. It’s anticipated that in the coming years, the size and composition of Kenyan products and exhibitors will increase thus providing the buyers with a wide range of options on the Kenyan menu.
