SME Open Day Held In Voi Taita Taveta County
Coast Development Authority (CDA) in collaboration with the County Government of Taita Taveta organized for an SME Open day for entrepreneurs from Taita Taveta County on 13th April, 2015 at the new Voi market. The event was presided over by H.E the Governor of Taita Taveta County Eng. John M. Mruttu assisted by CDA’s Managing Director
Mr. James Kahindi Mangi. The County Executive of Trade and Community Affairs Hon. Flora M. Mtuweta also participated in the function.

The SME Open day is part of Kenya Coastal Development (KCDP) activities being implemented by CDA under the coordination of Kenya Marine and Fisheries Institute (KMFRI) and in collaboration with other government institutions in the Coast region of Kenya. KCDP is a World Bank / Government of Kenya funded project.

The Open day involved SMEs from Taita Taveta County, service providers and government agencies. The SMEs and services providers exhibited their products and services aimed at promoting access to Business Development Services (BDS), financial services and enhancing investment capacity of the SMEs among the Coastal communities for improved economic and social well-being.

The Export Promotion Council (EPC) participated in the event and engaged with the top brass of the County, CDA and exhibitors.  The Managing Director of CDA in his address strongly affirmed the role of EPC and its paramount importance to the SMEs with respect to exposure in export markets and export market information provision. He urged the SMEs to proactively engage with EPC.

EPC collaborates with the County Government of Taita Taveta and Coast Development Authority in provision of its services among stakeholders in the Coast region. Some of the EPC programmes that have benefited Taita Taveta entrepreneurs are County Export Outreach programme, County Export Trade Alert bulletin, Export Trade training, Product Development & Test Marketing in Ethiopia, Export Awareness Training seminar, Export Market Development programme and Enterprise Export Capacity Development.
