Netherlands Trust Fund III /ITC/CBI Avocado Competitiveness Project
The Export Promotion Council is partnering with International Trade Center (ITC) Center for Promoting Imports from Developing Countries (CBI), Horticulture Crops Directorate (formerly HCDA) and Fresh Product Association of Kenya (FPEAK) in implementing the Netherlands Trust Fund III /ITC/CBI Avocado Competitiveness Project.

The partners signed the Project Document on 2nd February 2015 in Nairobi, Kenya.

NTF III is an Export Sector Competitiveness Programme based on a four-year partnership agreement signed by the CBI and ITC in July 2013. It aims to enhance export competitiveness of selected sectors in selected countries through an integrated approach to sector competitiveness built around one outcome, namely the increased competitiveness of the selected sector in the selected country.
The Programme will conduct activities in Bangladesh (IT/ITES sector), Kenya (IT/ITES and Avocado sectors), Myanmar (Tourism sector) and Uganda (IT/ITES and Coffee sectors).

The envisaged outcome of NTF III Kenya is to enhance the export competitiveness of the avocado sector in Kenya and generate new export revenue. To achieve this outcome, the project will:

Firstly, update the Avocado Commodity Business Plan

Secondly, increase the export capacity of exporting SMEs and farmer groups

Thirdly, the project will improve the capacity of beneficiary Trade Support Institutions  in providing services to SMEs.

Fourthly, create and/or expand business linkages and technical partnerships/collaborations to ensure SMEs obtain contracts with new clients

We will keep updating you on the Project Progress.
