ORIGIN AFRICA is both an event and an on-going effort dedicated to improving African Cotton, Textile and Apparel trade. The event is the largest cotton, textile & apparel event in the region and is profiled to raise the awareness of Africa as a place to do business, sourcing destination, changing perceptions, and to make the value chain in the continent more visible as a source of supply of cotton, textile and apparel products for the domestic, regional and international buyers.
Major textile and apparel producers from African Cotton & Textile Industries Federation (ACTIF) member countries exhibited at the Origin Africa 2014 event which was held at The Intercontinental Hotel in Nairobi on 10th – 12th November 2014. Regional & international buyers of Textile & Apparel, mainly from US & EU brands also attended.

The Export Promotion Council was invited to showcase some of the SMEs linked to the Council under the special SME section which had been set up. This section included home textile, home décor, accessories, leather products and gifts. The Council therefore coordinated the participation of 6 SMEs at this year’s Origin Africa Event. The objective of our participation was to showcase Kenya made products (Textiles, apparels, leather products and accessories) developed by SMEs under EPC’s various Product Development Programmes.
