Export Promotion Council wins Trade Class Trophy at ASK Central Kenya National Show Nyeri
The Central Kenya Show is the largest and important agriculture exhibition in the Central Kenya region. Through the years the show has developed to become a competitive showplace for trade, livestock, and farm produce displaying new agricultural technology as well as well as unmatched social events in the region. The show was held on 10th -13th September 2014 whose aim was to accelerate development of agriculture in the technological aspect by introducing agricultural advancement into production. The Theme of the Show was Enhancing Technology in Agriculture and Industry for Food Security and National Growth. The Nyeri County Government is committed to transforming agriculture at all levels into profitable, rewarding and sustainable form of business without losing sight of its core bedrock of food security, and embrace modern technology the whole value chain to attain this goal.

Framers need to transform themselves from being producers of raw agricultural products to producers of value added and market driven products.  Value addition by farmers requires courage and confidence to enter into this venture, through their own individual initiatives, or strong organized cooperatives societies and suitable partnership with relevant stakeholders and private sector. The region aims to continually change the focus along new developments in agriculture.

The Export Promotion Council displayed the activities and products in line with how the Council is enhancing technology in agriculture and industry for food security and national growth. On display was value added products through the product development initiatives, exportable value added agricultural products, packaging and branding methods, procedures for exporting agricultural products, trade statistics, potential markets, market development activities, use of ICT in marketing products and services. The Council displayed real success stories on product development and market linkages which impressed many visitors and demonstrated that it is achievable.

The Judges visited that EPC Stand and were confidently explained the activities the Council implements to promote export trade. The judges also scrutinized the display banners interpreting the theme, brochures, vision and mission, corporate brand image, export trade statistics, procedures for exporting various product and presentation skills.

Due to this excellent presentation the EPC Stand was awarded the BEST TRADE CLASS STAND and was presented with a trophy by His Excellency the President Uhuru Kenyatta in the award giving ceremony.
