SlAL exhibition in Abu Dhabi 26th-28th Nov 2012
Following the successful participation of Kenya in the Gulf Food Festival in Dubai 2012, the Government of the Federal State of Abu Dhabi through the Abu Dhabi Food Control Authority (ADFCA) has invitedr Kenya to take part in the SlAL Middle East Food exhibition that will take place from 26th to 28th November 2012 in the city of Abu Dhabi.

SIAL network of exhibitions is rated as among the leading in global exhibitions. It regularly holds exhibitions in Paris, Montreal, Shanghai, Sao Paolo and Abu Dhabi. Initial indicators show that 750 exhibitors from 50 countries are expected to participate in the event. More details will be availed later.
 
Sub-Saharan Africa’s Trade Potential
The International Trade Centre (ITC) announced the findings of a major analysis of sub-Saharan Africa’s trade potential, which shows that the region could boost its annual GDP by US $15 billion if time spent in customs clearance is cut by 50%. Another US $20 Billion could be added to the economies of sub-Saharan Africa each year by improving transport infrastructure, thereby getting goods to port in half the time it currently takes. If both sets of changes were implemented, the combined effect would be even larger.

Rwanda Opens Wide an Electronic Window For Trade
Rwanda is blazing a trail for the rest of East Africa to follow by launching sub-Saharan Africa’s first one-stop electronic trade clearance system, a computerised scheme that saves time, shoe leather and money.
“This is a groundbreaking scheme to cut the red tape snarling trade and I am confident it will pave the way for similar systems in EAC countries as well as making Rwanda an even cheaper place to do business,” Ben Kagarama, Commissioner General of the Rwanda Revenue Authority said at the launch August 3rd, 2012.

Eldoret International Airport
Kenya Airways’ launch of flights to Eldoret is a welcomed move as it will attract more investment in the North Rift Valley. The Eldoret International Airport  has recorded a more than 20 percent increase in the number of passengers in the past year. The airport handling three cargo flights namely;
  • Emirates Air - Boeing 777 with a capacity of 110 tonnes
  • Egypt Air -airbus with a capacity 45 tonnes
  • Etihad - an airbus with a capacity of 45 tonnes
